We were founded in March 2010 and we serve an area, which includes the town of Porthcawl and the villages of Cornelly, Pyle and Kenfig Hill. The catchment area has a combined population of over 25,000. We cater for road running, cross-country and track and field events from beginners to elite and we offer a warm welcome to newcomers and holidaymakers.
We have two main roles: –
1. Helping our Community to improve its Health, Social Well being and Quality of Life.
2. Developing our Membership such that they may achieve their Personal Goals and/or become Competitive Athletes.
We provide our members with the opportunity of enhancing their health, fitness, running and social life.
Our Application for Affiliation to Welsh Athletics Ltd was approved in July 2010 and we currently have a formal membership of more than 50 members.
Our vest colours are Welsh Green top half, White chest band above Welsh Green chest band and Black bottom half.
We share the facilities of the Porthcawl Rugby Club, which provides us with male and female changing and showers for our training sessions. We also share the clubhouse and bar amenities, which caters for our regular social events and after training refreshments.
We boast excellent training routes, which include Golden Beaches, Sand Dunes and Forest Trails.
We meet at 6.30pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, at the Porthcawl Rugby Club.
We also meet at 9.30am on Sunday mornings, at various locations, to provide a greater selection of training routes.
